Gary Gibbon C4 News touches base

There I was minding my own business when Gary Gibbon, C4 News, called from his train to Sittingbourne to give me the glad tidings this morning that George Osborne was speaking in my old constituency.

Interestingly, when David Cameron came down before the 2010 election it was alleged then that he refused to have a photo with his own candidate. I shall look on tonight's news coverage and in tomorrow's newspapers to see if this was repeated.

It was rather an odd choice to select Sittingbourne and for the boy George to tell the world why 5p of the 50p income tax was critical to the life support machine of the UK economy as there simply aren't that many people in the town for whom this actually helps. Maybe the Tory Election 2015 strategy means there won't be many senior Tory visits to either Sittingbourne or Sheppey as they either don't approve of the candidate or think UKIP will come through and take their votes and give Labour a surprise victory.

We shall see.
