The BBC has spent over £2 billion of the licence fee on BBC3 and BBC4. IN the past year its sports department has lost nearly every bid for live sport. NHK, the BBC's equivalent PBS broadcaster in Japan has two terrestrial channels and two satellite channels - an equivalent BBC1 and BBC2 on terrestrial and a Sports and an Educational channel on satellite. There's a message here for the new DG.
