Doug Smith was a neigbour of mine for 8 years in Marsham Street, SW1. We both had chaired Alexandra Palace though for different parties.
He died suddenly just before Christmas and though we had had the funeral back in late January it had taken a little longer to organise an event to say goodbye to him in a more personal way.
Over a hundred and fifty made the effort and it was a very moving occasion. I miss our chats on cricket.
