On Thursday, I went to Twickenham hoping against hope that Oxford would win and thus stretch our sequence of wins to five which would be a record.
The XV played out of their skins and won 43-6 in itself another record!!
I watched the Cambridge front five and twenty five minutes into the first half they were walking between lineouts and scrums. They were manifestly unfit and so it proved. They had trained six and sometimes seven days a week but whoever their coach and captain were they were simply extraordinarily badly prepared.
The Varsity match no longer warrants coverage by the national media save Sky who broadcast it. If one of the teams cannot be bothered to put their minds to it, it will slip away in the darkness of the night. Shame.
